About the Book

Past Life Dreamwork is the result of 27 years of personal and professional work with past life dreams. Here, the presently popular topic of reincarnation is being explored from the perspective of dreams in an extensive study for the very first time. This makes Past Life Dreamwork a groundbreaking book without antecedents and role models.

The book has an autobiographical and a clinical part. Both parts describe the author's personal and professional struggle with past life material, which arose spontaneously from her unconscious, and later, from the unconscious of some of her clients. These manifestations of past lives in dreams were often so convincing, detailed and concrete that it moved reincarnation from the borderland of metaphysical speculation into the inner space of experiential reality.

One of many unique features of this book are the integration and healing stories, which are presented with unusual frankness and in great psychological detail in an easy-to-read story telling style. Readers will be able to witness how individuals are made whole through the integration of past life material. They will also learn from example how our actions come back to haunt us in future incarnations and that we need to take responsibility for whatever happens to us in this life.

Past life integration, in the sense of Jung's individuation process, goes far beyond mere past life recall. It is a process that requires fine-tuning, because any identification with a past life personality is detrimental to our personal development and obscures the blueprint for our present life. A successful integration, as it is presented in most of these stories, widens and enriches the individual, enhances racial and religious tolerance, and opens the heart in compassion for others. By opening up new inner horizons for the reader Past Life Dreamwork is not only a book about transformation, but also a transformational book.

Reader's Comments

“Professional therapists will find here a wealth of information on the healing process through dream work. Lay readers will discover the thrill of uncovering the mysteries of the psyche.  Both emotionally engaging and intellectually satisfying this book is a major contribution to the literature of dreams and of inner exploration  by a distinguished Jungian psychotherapist – and a masterful storyteller.”

“Lucas is to be applauded for presenting this controversial material in a lucid and intelligent way, which challenges the reader to take it seriously. In the end, I suspect most believers  will emerge from this book still believing, and most non-believers will not be convinced – but all will find it a compelling read, and be left with much to ponder.”
